Here is an old photo on one of my previous trips, in 2003. The bear was foraging on some plants (probably berries) on the north side of the estuary. There we could get in really very close, yet it was deep water between the bear and us. (this is a good thing!).

We had a delightful trip, great lunch was laid out - smoked salmon even! Met some interesting people from far away as Europe as well. Thanks for the great experience - oh did I tell you about how good the guide was -- he even went into the water in hip waders to pull the boat along in shallow water. Good thing it was him and not me.
